A long day at the office

hey guys yesterday was a really good day, but I was soooo tired. I was first giving flyers out for the Foto8 summer show, which all photographers can summit their work to be displayed in the gallery. Along the way I met some really cool people. Then at 7 there was a screening of 'The Ballad of AJ Weberman' by James Bluemel and Oliver Ralfe. I wasn't sure what to think at first as I did my research first and saw a small clip on youtube, but this clip does not do the rest of the documentary justice. It was a really funny documentary, but also very sad. I don't really want to go into detail as I want you guys to check it out your selves and it is well worth doing.

I forgot to add something. This is one of the prints by Maurice Broomfield that I touched, well with gloves but I touched it, how awesomeeeeee.

My own work

Woohooo I'll show you guys a bit. These images are from a series called 'Suna'. This is a documentary following my nosey neighbour. She such a lovely person and I have made her re-enact what she does, as she seems to think we don't notice. For me to be able to create this work I had to tell a little lie and say she was pretending to do this for another reason, even though her own children call her nosey hehe.

Work Experience

Another day hard at work hahhaaa not really. I've just been having fun really. I am actually workin though. Today I helped pack Maurice Broomfields black and white prints. They are beautiful. I couldn't believe I was touching them, well kind of I was wearing gloves. I dont think he'd be too impressed if there were finger marks. I was also sent around London to put flyers for an upcoming exhibition, wasnt that exciting but I did find out the places that would take flyers which gives me an advantage for next week as I'll be handing out flyers for the Host Gallery summer show. I will be entering this and I hope you guys do to.

Foto8/Host Gallery

Today I had my first day of work experience at the Host Gallery/Foto8, I wasn't sure what to expect but I was ready to work. I was greeted by Anna and two others who work there, but I would be working closely with Anna. They seem to be hard work and my first impressions were good, they seem really nice people. I was first given the task of stamping and to also number the books by Maurice Broomfield in order to pack them as part of the limited edition range. Was excited that I even touched them, great times. I then went to process suppliers by Rosebery Avenue where I was to buy some archive boxes. Great shop nice to know a new photography shop that I didn't know before. Once I came back I was to look for emails and phone numbers for course leaders of photography at different Universities and Colleges. My day was up and tomorrow I'll be helping Anna frame photography work, should be exciting to see whos work it will be.

My first blogging experience, so here we go.............................................. I'm a photography student currently studying at the University for the Creative Arts, specialising in documentary photography and hand colour printing.
Photographers-Larry Sultan, Sally Mann and Anna Fox. They have been big influences throughout my work. I am currently working on a project, documenting my family. I'm finding this hard at the moment as the space is so familiar and documenting this without it looking the norm has been difficult. I have decided the best thing to do is just let it happen and see what comes out of it and by doing so I'll be including myself within the images.
Recently looked at the Host Gallery blog and saw a photographer called Soraya Hocine. Great work. I'm loving her current work called: Teenage Years. Check it out.

My own images will be on here in the next few days, so keep an eye out.
